High quality giclée print on 310gsm 100% cotton rag paper

In Mexican Catholic culture, the Virgin Mary is equally if not more important than Jesus. She remains a figure in the religion because the Spaniards could not convert the indigenous people without letting them retain their all-powerful goddess. Rejecting the traditional image of the Virgin Mary, I created my own version. My vision was of a celestial royal mother, all-seeing and a little frightening as she balances the cosmos in one hand. Original painting is 16x20 acrylic on wood.
